It’s almost time for Cape Town’s premier décor, design and lifestyle exhibition to wow the City with the latest and greatest innovative designs and styles.

As the destination of choice for creatives, the event promises to break old codes in design and create new collaborations in its 30th year. Last year, Decorex showcased the work of up-and-coming designers, artists and artisans to more than 21 000 visitors, and this year’s event promises to be even bigger.
More than 200 exhibitors will be featured this year, including online retailer Superbalist which will bring its virtual store to the show for the first time.
As per News24, executive creative director Decorex Africa Bielle Bellingham says South Africa’s top design authorities will address some key issues faced by the design industry. ‘This year we have the Future of Design, with an impressive lineup of South Africa’s top design authorities talking about some of the most pressing issues currently facing the design industry and revealing the approaches they are taking to future proof their output.’
Here’s what delegates can look forward to at the 2023 Decorex Cape Town:
The Future of Design
This year, the event will feature an exhibition by Sanlam Private Wealth, which will showcase some of the most advanced technology, sustainable designs, and experiential designs.
Samsung bespoke cooking theatre
Local chefs will host live demos of their favourite dishes using the latest Samsung appliances, including My Kitchen Rules 2021 winners Izak and Wessel from Gather Curated, Glam Foodie, Food Jams, Dimo Simatos from Davidoff Café, Meals with Mash, and others.
Future talks
A future talks programme will also focus on key industry topics such as circularity, the business of design, material futures, NFTs, architectural innovation and creativity in general.
Bloom Cafe
Bouwer Flowers, a pop-up florist, will showcase some unique arrangements at the Bloom Cafe, where visitors can select their favourite creations while enjoying lunch.
Bubbly Bar
This sparkling neon-lit design concept by Happinest will feature a selection of hand-picked wines and spirits from CyberCellar.
Surface Bar
The Surface Bar by Studio Masson will offer a stylish spot to grab a drink while browsing some premium slabs and tiles for bathrooms, kitchens and floors.
Don’t feed the birds
Cape Town-based food design specialists Studio H will present their 2023 millet reports via an interactive installation.
Some other exhibitions to look out for include a Superbalist and Plascon collaboration, sustainable chair design prototypes by The Hatch, an outdoor showcase featuring braai rooms, landscapes, patios, and porches byBloc Outdoor, Everdure by Heston Blumenthal, Hofats and WODC, and so much more.
