Uncovering the seaside village of Kalk Bay

The fishing village and suburb of Cape Town can be found sitting pretty along the False Bay coast.

It is a proven tourist hotspot and also serves as the perfect escape from the bustling city.

The unique appeal of the town stems from the fact that much of it is built on the slopes of the mountains which borders the sea. The coastal allure of the town has resulted in the property in the area becoming increasingly expensive.

Quaint and colourful:

The suburb is a mere 35-minute drive from the Cape Town City Centre. The location is driving distance from a variety of high schools, hospitals, food markets, grocery stores and even the Kalk Bay Theatre.

Fish Hoek High School and False Bay hospital are less than ten minutes away by car. The village is also home to Bay Primary, a charming school with views of the Kalk Bay Harbour.

Lekker Kalk Bay serves as a miniature grocery store and makes the ideal takeaway meal. Other than that Kalk Bay is home to a few markets where food, and specifically fish, can be purchased. Woolworths Food is a mere ten minute drive from Kalk Bay.

Despite the fact that the village is a notable tourist hotspot, it offers its residence nirvana and is definitely a suitable living area for any family unit.

Kalk Bay therefore serves as a playground, wherein tourist attractions and forever homes meet.

The hotspot is also home to many seals, basking in the sunlight and cheekily trying to steal the fishermans’ catch when they can.

Forbes Magazine has even labelled the quaint seaside village as one of the ‘coolest neighbourhoods’ in the world.

Activities in the seaside village include binging on fresh seafood delicacies, shopping in a variety of antique stores or galleries and enjoying an afternoon coffee at one of the many cafés located in the suburb. If you’re feeling adventurous, perhaps enjoy a midday cave exploration.

Then Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, stated that it is an excellent base from which to explore some of the city’s other tourist attractions such as Muizenberg Beach the St James beach huts and Simonstown.
