Long-season planting is planting crops that grow year-round, withstand different weathers, and grow throughout all four seasons, even the colder seasons. Long-season plants are usually able to grow through all four seasons. One can start plants for the following growing season. Plants that are suitable for long-season gardening fall into four main categories.
These include hardy greens, wintering brassica cole crops, wintering alliums, and hardy winter root crops. Many vegetables grow and taste better in the cooler temperatures of spring. Certain ones, like lettuce and spinach, will bolt when the weather gets too hot and can only be grown in cool temperatures.
Long season crops: Best vegetables to grow year-round in every season
Brassica/Cole crops
Brassica is a genus of plants in the cabbage and mustard family (Brassicaceae). The members of the genus are informally known as cruciferous vegetables, cabbages, mustard plants, or simply brassicas. Crops from this genus are sometimes called cole crops. Brassicas can sprout and grow in summer although they thrive in cooler weather.

Root crops
Root vegetables are underground plant parts eaten by humans or animals as food. In agricultural and culinary terminology, the term applies to true roots such as taproots and tuberous roots as well as non-roots such as bulbs, corms, rhizomes, and stem tubers. Root crops that grow well in cool soil include carrots, radishes, and beets.

Hardy greens
Growing hardy greens means that you can start growing your crops in any season; they can also be sprouted in summer and grown directly in the soil in cooler seasons. The hardiest vegetables that can be grown throughout the seasons are spinach, kale, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, these crops can give you healthy leafy greens for longer than one season.

Alliums
Allium, the largest genus of monocotyledonous flowering plants, has around 1000 accepted species. Some edible species, like onions, garlic, scallions, shallots, leeks, and chives, are globally grown. Onions and some crops in the onion allium family thrive in all four seasons.
Growing crops that survive the different climates of the changing seasons is a huge bonus for gardeners. You do not have to worry about crop rotation and seasonal change much.
This allows better planning and maintenance of the garden and a steady harvest in every season.
