More like bold walls: PAINTING A FEATURE WALL
Make the bed a focal point
To give this bedroom depth and draw attention to the bed, interior designer Robin Widdop clad the wall behind it with charcoal grey wallpaper. To draw the eye, she added two framed artworks with white mountboards which form a striking contrast. The dark shade of the wall also shows off the yellow scatters and armchair to perfection.
Make a powder room pop
Pauline Bouttell of Monsoon Home gave her powder room pizzazz with bold tropical wallpaper, Ashford Tropics’ Banana Leaf from Hertex. To ensure that it’s the star of the show, she chose a contemporary timber finish for the vanity and mirror.
Use contrast to add impact
To give this bedroom the wow factor, Michelle Murray of Interiors Etc, painted one wall navy blue to show off the graphic lines of the crisp white floating shelf, headboard, side table and lamps. Imagine this furniture against a white wall. It wouldn’t have a fraction of the impact.

Let the wall finish inspire the room
The starting point for decorator Karen Marsden’s scheme for this living room was the geometric wallpaper from Cara Saven, the design of which she reflected in the geometric texture of the rug from Gonsenhausers Fine Rugs. She then introduced clean lined sofas from Leon@CCXIX as they stand out beautifully against both the wallpaper and rug.
