Charmed by the views this stand offered, the owners ensured that their home complements its country setting
The house was designed to complement its setting and take full advantage of the lovely valley views.
“As this is still very much an agricultural area, a contemporary farmhouse fits right in,” says owner Monique Mann, who enhanced its country character by adding shutters and stone cladding, made from locally sourced stone.
The living area has a whole wall of frameless glass doors which open onto a patio and infinity swimming pool, which spills over to the spectacular vista beyond. Generous windows in the bedrooms allow the morning sun to pour in.
Monique’s creative flair has resulted in a home rich in elegant details, from the striking double-volume entrance hall with its ornate reclaimed Argentinian doors to the plush main bedroom. She’s managed to strike that delicate balance between style and comfort.
The open-plan living area is very spacious and Monique demarcated specific areas using rugs and groups of furniture. Screed floors in the notoriously chilly Hillcrest area could be cold, but the glazed doors draw in the warmth and Monique has added a double-sided fireplace between the lounge and dining room which warms both spaces.
