Instructions
Your homemade detergent should last you for a good 3 to 4 months if made safely and properly. Of course, the batch you make will rely on how regularly you do your laundry. It would also be important not to overuse the detergent you create, as it can leave residue on your clothes.
With these steps, you can make sure your detergent is created safely:
- Start by boiling a kettle of water. Then add 2 cups of your borax alkaline and 2 and a half cups of baking soda into the boiled water.
- Stir the two together, then dilute the disinfectant peroxide with cold water before adding it to your boiled water.
- Add 2 cups of dish soap and another kettle of boiling water. Once the mixture has been stirred and is well dissolved, you can add in your fragrant essential oil (this is optional).
- Then, let your homemade laundry detergent cool for a few hours. If done well, it will turn into a thick white powder.
- After it has finally cooled down, store your detergent in an airtight jar and away from pets and children for safekeeping.
