Most homeowners prefer artificial grass because of its low maintenance ability. Remaining healthy and presentable longer than natural grass. There are maintenance tips you should keep in mind to keep it continuously healthy.

Artificial grass maintenance

Artificial grass has unique maintenance needs, as it does not require the same routine maintenance procedures as natural grass. Not susceptible to many natural diseases like weeds or fungi. Just because it’s artificial doesn’t mean it won’t require time and attention once installed.

Deal with pet waste immediately

If you have pets running along your yard, then artificial grass is the solution for you.   Keep in mind that your lovely pets might pee and excrete waste on the grass. When this happens, deal with the matter promptly to avoid damage to the grass.

Although this minor issue may not cause too many problems, you’ll need to be more vigilant and work a little harder to keep your lawn hygienic.

Water it

It may be synthetic grass – but it still needs watering! The good thing is that artificial grass uses less water to stay healthy. Use your garden hose with clean water to remove dust on your grass.

If your area receives rain often, you won’t have to rinse the grass with a hose nearly as much. Watering it means you want your artificial grass to stay clean and neat.

Brush the grass regularly

On top of watering, your grass will need a few brushes, especially after high winds. Brushing helps remove leaves, branches, and other debris that come with the wind. Brush once a week to maintain cleanliness.

Always check for weeds

It may be artificial grass and weed-resistant, but some weeds may find their way through small holes. Holes that may be caused by foot traffic, pets or even caused by sharp debris during windy days.

To prevent weed growth, consider applying artificial grass care herbicides before installation and a few times when the grass is installed. This will help remove any weeds that do appear to prevent them from spreading.
