Chocolate banana, avocado smoothie is a healthy nutritional dietary friendly snack. Banana and avocado are a creamy combination which makes the treat taste delicious and thick. It is a perfect treat to pop into popsicle moulds and freeze which makes it a cooling yummy snack to give to children on warm spring and summer days.

Ingredients:

  • Almond milk
  • Bananas, peeled or frozen, 300g
  • Avocados, peeled or froze, 300g
  • Baby spinach, 5-10 leaves
  • Raw cacao powder
  • Chia seeds
  • Creamy peanut butter or almond butter
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Honey for sweetening, 2 spoons
  • Ice blocks

Equipment: 

  • Blender 
  • Popsicle mould

Instructions:

  1.  Prepare ingredients: If using fresh bananas and avocados, peel and chop them into smaller pieces for easier blending. Frozen bananas and avocados can be used as is. Wash the baby spinach and use 5-10 leaves.
  2. Measure your ingredients: Use 300g of bananas and avocado.
  3. Blend smoothie: Pour 1 cup of almond milk in the blender (you can adjust later for thickness). Add the bananas, avocado, baby spinach, raw cacao powder, chia seeds, creamy peanut butter or almond butter, ground cinnamon, ice, vanilla extract, and 2 spoons of honey to taste. Blend everything until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add more almond milk until desired texture is achieved.
  4. Taste and adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if needed. You can also add more cacao powder if you want a stronger chocolate flavour.
  5. Serve as a smoothie (Optional): If you prefer to enjoy the smoothie right away, pour it into glasses and serve.
  6. For Popsicles: If making popsicles, carefully pour the smoothie mixture into popsicle moulds. Tap the mould gently on the counter to remove air bubbles. Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 4-6 hours or until completely frozen.
  7. Enjoy: When frozen, run the popsicle moulder under tap water for a few seconds to loosen the popsicles, then gently pull them out. Serve and enjoy a healthy refreshing snack.
